- Hebei Iron and Steel Group of China has invested $182M in the Kami mine project in Labrador West. Engineering and construction work is expected to begin late in 2013 and a work camp is scheduled for May or June. Production is expected to start in 2015.
- A protest led by the NunatuKavut Community Council is underway in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. Members are protesting over a lack of fair consultation with the provincial government on the Lower Churchill hydro project.
- Thomas Resources, a subsidiary company of Pennecon Group, is seeking approval from the city of Corner Brook to do exploratory drilling near Corner Brook Lake to determine the feasibility of a garnet and kyanite quarry
